Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1, Verse 30 (BG 1.30) — Meaning, Translation & Commentary

Here Arjun describes further symptoms of his affliction. Previously, he had spoken of the signs manifesting in his gross body, and now he describes the imbalanced state of his mind as well. His mind has become unstable, agitated, and confused, and he has lost all equanimity. He has descended to such a degree that, bereft of all discernment, he begins to perceive numerous inauspicious omens born of superstition—those signs that are understood to portend defeat and destruction in battle. The verses that follow not only reveal his mental confusion but also make clear the extent to which his discernment and moral courage have been destroyed.
