The Supreme Person

If we trace the branches back to the root, what do we find? Krishna now reveals the deepest secret of this chapter — and one of the most intimate teachings in the whole Gita: the Divine is not distant, but seated within us as our very self.

ममैवांशो जीवलोके जीवभूतः सनातनः | मनःषष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति ||१५-७||

“Krishna reveals a deep truth: "An eternal spark of Myself becomes the individual soul in every living being. It draws the five senses and the mind to itself — all of them rooted in nature — and enters the world of life."”

'An eternal portion of My own Self becomes the living being in this world.' The spark of life within each of us is not separate from the Divine — it is a fragment of it, eternal and unbroken. Whatever else changes, this innermost essence remains divine in origin.

सर्वस्य चाहं हृदि सन्निविष्टो मत्तः स्मृतिर्ज्ञानमपोहनञ्च |

“Krishna reveals his innermost presence: "I am seated in the hearts of all beings. Memory, knowledge, and the ability to reason — all come from Me. Forgetting also comes from Me. I am what all the scriptures are trying to describe. I am the one who composed them. And I am the one who truly knows them."”

'I am seated in the hearts of all; from Me come memory and knowledge.' The very awareness by which you remember, understand, and even forget arises from this indwelling presence. The Supreme Person is not somewhere far away to be reached — it is the quiet center from which your own consciousness shines, closer than your own breath.

“Sit quietly for a moment and consider: the awareness reading these words is itself a spark of the eternal. What would change in your day if you trusted that the Divine was seated not above you, but within you?”
