अनपेक्षः शुचिर्दक्ष उदासीनो गतव्यथः |
सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः ||१२-१६||

anapekṣaḥ śucirdakṣa udāsīno gatavyathaḥ . sarvārambhaparityāgī yo madbhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ ||12-16||


।।12.16।। जो अपेक्षारहित, शुद्ध, दक्ष, उदासीन, व्यथारहित और सर्वकर्मों का संन्यास करने वाला मेरा भक्त है, वह मुझे प्रिय है।।

Sri Shankaracharya

।।12.16।।जो शरीर? इन्द्रिय? विषय और उनके सम्बन्ध आदि स्पृहाके विषयोंमें अपेक्षारहित -- निःस्पृह है? बाहरभीतरकी शुद्धिसे सम्पन्न है? और चतुर अर्थात् अनेक कर्त्तव्योंके प्राप्त होनेपर उनमेंसे तुरंत ही यथार्थ कर्त्तव्यको निश्चित करनेमें समर्थ है। तथा जो उदासीन अर्थात् किसी मित्र आदिका पक्षपात न करनेवाला संन्यासी है और गतव्यथ यानी निर्भय है। तथा जो समस्त आरम्भोंका त्याग करनेवाला है -- जो आरम्भ किये जायँ उनका नाम आरम्भ है? इसके अनुसार इस लोक और परलोकके फलभोगके लिये किये जानेवाले समस्त कामनाहेतुक कर्मोंका नाम सर्वारम्भ है? उन्हें त्यागनेका जिसका स्वभाव है ऐसा जो मेरा भक्त है वह मेरा प्यारा है।
