मुक्तसङ्गोऽनहंवादी धृत्युत्साहसमन्वितः |
सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योर्निर्विकारः कर्ता सात्त्विक उच्यते ||१८-२६||
muktasaṅgo.anahaṃvādī dhṛtyutsāhasamanvitaḥ . siddhyasiddhyornirvikāraḥ kartā sāttvika ucyate ||18-26||
।।18.26।। जो कर्ता संगरहित, अहंमन्यता से रहित, धैर्य और उत्साह से युक्त एवं कार्य की सिद्धि (सफलता) और असिद्धि (विफलता) में निर्विकार रहता है, वह कर्ता सात्त्विक कहा जाता है।।
18.26 मुक्तसङ्गः who is free from attachment? अनहंवादी nonegoistic? धृत्युत्साहसमन्वितः endowed with firmness and enthusiasm? सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः in success or failure? निर्विकारः unaffected? कर्ता an agent? सात्त्विकः Sattvic (pure)? उच्यते is called.Commentary A pure agent does his actions with his whole heart without feeling proud at the performance. He looks for the proper time and place and in accordance with the behests of the scriptures determines whether such actions are worth doing or not.
Non-dualism. The individual self and Brahman are one. The world is appearance (maya). Liberation through knowledge.
।।18.26।।जो कर्ता मुक्तसङ्ग है -- जिसने आसक्तिका त्याग कर दिया है? जो निरहंवादी है -- जिसका मैं कर्ता हूँ ऐसे कहनेका स्वभाव नहीं रह गया है? जो धृति और उत्साहसे युक्त है -- धृति यानी धारणाशक्ति,और उत्साह यानी उद्यम -- इन दोनोंसे जो युक्त है? तथा जो किये हुए कर्मके फलकी सिद्धि होने या न होनेमें निर्विकार है। जो ऐसा कर्ता है? वह सात्त्विक कहा जाता है। जो केवल शास्त्रप्रमाणसे ही कर्ममें प्रयुक्त होता है? फलेच्छा या आसक्ति आदिसे नहीं? वह निर्विकार कहा जाता है।

18.26 [Ast. introduces this verse with 'Idanim kartrbhedah ucyate, Now is being stated the distinctions among the agents.'-Tr.] The agent who is free from attachment [Attachment to results or the idea of agentship.], not egotistic, endowed with fortitude and diligence, and unperturbed by success and failure is said to be possessed of sattva.
