अयुक्तः प्राकृतः स्तब्धः शठो नैष्कृतिकोऽलसः |
विषादी दीर्घसूत्री च कर्ता तामस उच्यते ||१८-२८||

ayuktaḥ prākṛtaḥ stabdhaḥ śaṭho naiṣkṛtiko.alasaḥ . viṣādī dīrghasūtrī ca kartā tāmasa ucyate ||18-28||


।।18.28।। अयुक्त, प्राकृत, स्तब्ध, शठ, नैष्कृतिक, आलसी, विषादी और दीर्घसूत्री कर्ता तामस कहा जाता है।।

।।18.28।।जो कर्ता अयुक्त है -- जिसका चित्त समाहित नहीं है? जो बालकके समान प्राकृत -- अत्यन्त संस्कारहीन बुद्धिवाला है? जो स्तब्ध है -- दण्डकी भाँति किसीके सामने नहीं झुकता? जो शठ अर्थात् अपनी सामर्थ्यको गुप्त रखनेवाला कपटी है? जो नैष्कृतिक -- दूसरोंकी वृत्तिका छेदन करनेमें तत्पर और आलसी है -- जिसका कर्तव्यकार्यमें भी प्रवृत्त होनेका स्वभाव नहीं है? जो विषादी -- सदा शोकयुक्त स्वभाववाला और दीर्घसूत्री है -- कर्तव्यमें बहुत विलम्ब करनेवाला है अर्थात् आज या कल कर लेनेयोग्य कार्यको महीनेभरमें भी समाप्त नहीं कर पाता? जो ऐसा कर्ता है वह तामस कहा जाता है।
