श्रद्धावाननसूयश्च शृणुयादपि यो नरः |
सोऽपि मुक्तः शुभाँल्लोकान्प्राप्नुयात्पुण्यकर्मणाम् ||१८-७१||
śraddhāvānanasūyaśca śṛṇuyādapi yo naraḥ . so.api muktaḥ śubhā.Nllokānprāpnuyātpuṇyakarmaṇām ||18-71||
।।18.71।। तथा जो श्रद्धावान् और अनसुयु (दोषदृष्टि रहित) पुरुष इसका श्रवणमात्र भी करेगा, वह भी (पापों से) मुक्त होकर पुण्यकर्मियों के शुभ (श्रेष्ठ) लोकों को प्राप्त कर लेगा।।

18.71 Any man who, being reverential and free from cavilling, might even hear (this), he too, becoming free, shall attain the blessed worlds of those who perform virtuous deeds.
।।18.71।।तथा श्रोताको यह ( आगे बतलाया जानेवाला ) फल मिलता है --, जो मनुष्य? इस ग्रन्थको श्रद्धायुक्त और दोषदृष्टिरहित होकर केवल सुनता ही है? वह भी पापोंसे मुक्त होकर? पुण्यकारियोंके अर्थात् अग्निहोत्रादि श्रेष्ठकर्म करनेवालोंके? शुभ लोकोंको प्राप्त हो जाता है। अपिशब्दसे यह पाया जाता है कि अर्थ समझनेवालेकी तो बात ही क्या है। शिष्यने शास्त्रका अभिप्राय ग्रहण किया या नहीं यह विवेचन करनेके लिये भगवान् पूछते हैं। इसमें पूछनेवालेका यह अभिप्राय है कि शास्त्रका अभिप्राय श्रोताने ग्रहण नहीं किया है -- यह मालूम होनेपर? फिर किसी और उपायसे ग्रहण कराऊँगा।
