दुःखमित्येव यत्कर्म कायक्लेशभयात्त्यजेत् |
स कृत्वा राजसं त्यागं नैव त्यागफलं लभेत् ||१८-८||

duḥkhamityeva yatkarma kāyakleśabhayāttyajet . sa kṛtvā rājasaṃ tyāgaṃ naiva tyāgaphalaṃ labhet ||18-8||


।।18.8।। जो मनुष्य, कर्म को दु:ख समझकर शारीरिक कष्ट के भय से त्याग देता है, वह पुरुष उस राजसिक त्याग को करके कदापि त्याग के फल को प्राप्त नहीं होता है।।

।।18.8।।तथा --, समस्त कर्म दुःखरूप हैं? ऐसा मानकर जो कोई शारीरिक क्लेशके भयसे कर्मोंको छोड़ बैठता है? वह,( ऐसा ) राजस त्याग करके? त्यागका फल अर्थात् ज्ञानपूर्वक किये हुए सर्वकर्मसंन्यासका मोक्षरूप फल? नहीं पाता।

18.8 Whatever action one may relinish merely as being painful, from fear of physical suffering, he, having resorted to renunciation based on rajas, will surely not acire the fruits of renunciation.
