गतिर्भर्ता प्रभुः साक्षी निवासः शरणं सुहृत् |
प्रभवः प्रलयः स्थानं निधानं बीजमव्ययम् ||९-१८||
gatirbhartā prabhuḥ sākṣī nivāsaḥ śaraṇaṃ suhṛt . prabhavaḥ pralayaḥ sthānaṃ nidhānaṃ bījamavyayam ||9-18||
।।9.18।। गति (लक्ष्य), भरण-पोषण करने वाला, प्रभु (स्वामी), साक्षी, निवास, शरणस्थान तथा मित्र और उत्पत्ति, प्रलयरूप तथा स्थान (आधार), निधान और अव्यय कारण भी मैं हूँ।।
9.18 गतिः the goal? भर्ता the supporter? प्रभुः the Lord? साक्षी the witness? निवासः the abode? शरणम् the shelter? सुहृत् the friend? प्रभवः the origin? प्रलयः the dissolution? स्थानम् the foundation? निधानम् the treasurehouse? बीजम् the seed? अव्ययम् imperishable.Commentary I am the goal? the fruit of action. He who nourishes and supports is the huand. I am the witness of the good and evil actions done by the Jivas (individuals). I am the abode wherein all living beings dwell. I am the shelter

।।9.18।।तथा मैं ही --, गति -- कर्मफल? भर्ता -- सबका पोषण करनेवाला? प्रभु -- सबका स्वामी? प्राणियोंके कर्म और अकर्मका साक्षी? जिसमें प्राणी निवास करते हैं वह वासस्थान? शरण अर्थात् शरणमें आये हुए दुःखियोंका दुःख दूर करनेवाला? सुहृत् -- प्रत्युपकार न चाहकर उपकार करनेवाला? प्रभव -- जगत्की उत्पत्तिका कारण और,जिसमें सब लीन हो जाते हैं वह प्रलय भी मैं ही हूँ। तथा जिसमें सब स्थित होते हैं वह स्थान? प्राणियोंके कालान्तरमें उपभोग करनेयोग्य कर्मोंका भण्डाररूप निधान और अविनाशी बीज भी मैं ही हूँ अर्थात् उत्पत्तिशील वस्तुओंकी उत्पत्तिका अविनाशी कारण मैं ही हूँ। जबतक संसार है तबतक उसका बीज भी अवश्य रहता है? इसलिये बीजको अविनाशी कहा है क्योंकि बिना बीजके कुछ भी उत्पन्न नहीं होता और उत्पत्ति नित्य देखी जाती है? इससे यह जाना जाता है कि बीजकी परम्पराका नाश नहीं होता।
