अश्रद्दधानाः पुरुषा धर्मस्यास्य परन्तप |
अप्राप्य मां निवर्तन्ते मृत्युसंसारवर्त्मनि ||९-३||
aśraddadhānāḥ puruṣā dharmasyāsya parantapa . aprāpya māṃ nivartante mṛtyusaṃsāravartmani ||9-3||
।।9.3।। हे परन्तप ! इस धर्म में श्रद्धारहित पुरुष मुझे प्राप्त न होकर मृत्युरूपी संसार में रहते हैं (भ्रमण करते हैं)।।
9.3 अश्रद्दधानाः without faith? पुरुषाः men? धर्मस्य of duty? अस्य of this? परन्तप O scorcher of foes? अप्राप्य without attaining? माम् Me? निवर्तन्ते return? मृत्युसंसारवर्त्मनि in the path of this world of death.Commentary Arjuna asks? O Lord? why do people not attempt to attain this knowledge of the Self when it can be easily attained? when it is the highest of all things? and when it gives the greatest benefits All should certainly attain this knowledge. The Lord replies? O My beloved discip
Non-dualism. The individual self and Brahman are one. The world is appearance (maya). Liberation through knowledge.
।।9.3।।परंतु जो --, इस आत्मज्ञानरूप धर्मकी श्रद्धासे रहित हैं? अर्थात् इसके स्वरूपमें और फलमें आस्तिक भावसे रहित हैं -- नास्तिक हैं वे असुरोंके सिद्धान्तोंका अनुवर्तन करनेवाले देहमात्रको ही आत्मा समझनेवाले एवं पापकर्म करनेवाले इन्द्रियलोलुप मनुष्य? हे परंतप मुझ परमेश्वरको प्राप्त न होकर -- मेरी प्राप्तिकी तो उनके लिये आशङ्का भी नहीं हो सकती? मेरी प्राप्तिके मार्गकी साधनरूप भेदभक्तिको भी प्राप्त न होकर निश्चय ही घूमते रहते हैं। कहाँ घूमते रहते हैं मृत्युयुक्त संसारके मार्गमें? अर्थात् जो संसार मृत्युयुक्त है उस मृत्युसंसारके नरक और पशुपक्षी आदि योनियोंकी प्राप्तिरूप मार्गमें वे बारंबार घूमते रहते हैं।

9.3 O destroyer of foes, persons who are regardless of this Dharma (knowledge of the Self) certainly go round and round, without reaching Me, along the path of transmigration which is fraught with death.
