Upon witnessing this supreme and magnificent vision, Arjuna's mind was seized with wonder, and his body trembled visibly. Though Sanjaya stood far from the battlefield, through his divine sight he perceived not merely the forms of all the warriors, but also the depths of their hearts and minds. Arjuna's astonishment was as clear to him as the trembling that overtook the prince's frame. With his head bowed in reverence and both palms joined together, Arjuna opened his mouth to speak. Until this moment, he had remained silent—a sign of the overwhelming emotion that had constricted his throat. When first he beheld that vision, which seemed to shatter his courage with its terrible majesty, the intensity of his feelings had choked his voice into silence.
