Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8, Verse 27 (BG 8.27) — Meaning, Translation & Commentary

The fruit of knowledge of both the path of light and the path of darkness is this: the yogi who knows these paths is never deluded, nor does he lose his steadfastness and fall into despair due to the lower tendencies that arise in the mind. The Blessed Lord Krishna has thus far described the paths of return and non-return, and now in this verse, having gathered together the knowledge and its fruits, He speaks to Arjuna, saying: Therefore, at all times, become a yogi. That person is a yogi who has learned to withdraw identification from the non-self and to concentrate the mind upon the nature of the atman. In brief, through this entire chapter, the Blessed Lord has instructed Arjuna that even while engaged in action in the world, he should ever strive to establish an unwavering unity with the imperishable Self and to remain steadfast in the knowledge of atman.
